When you have poor credit, it may be tempting to apply for lots of credit cards, just to see if anyone will approve you. You should not give in to this temptation, as every application is placed on your credit record, and too many will have a negative impact on your credit rating.
Be wary of cards with high fees. Get your credit report before you start applying for cards so you know exactly what your situation is. There are cards out there with $20, $40 or even $100 annual fees. Knowing your credit score can help you to determine whether paying a high annual fee is your only choice. Know your score and know what you need to do to improve it.
